Barcelona, Madrid and Malaga were the provinces that concentrated a greater number of visas to foreigners who in 2022 acquired a property worth 500,000 euros or more, also known as 'golden visa', as reported by the Government in a parliamentary response, which has been accessed by Europa Press.

Although the government does not offer a breakdown of the figures by provinces, it does point out in its response to questions posed by Ciudadanos that 476 visas of this type were granted in 2022. These 'golden visas' were introduced with Law 14/2013 on support for entrepreneurs and their internationalisation, promoted by the government of Mariano Rajoy.
